Our worlds can be defined in many ways. Our tax bracket; chosen profession; sexuality; knowledge of pop culture. These external definitions shape us and even dictate how we spend our time and talents. Are we acting like other people our own age? Dressing the same? Are we ‘successful’ enough? Our lives are a complex, constantly shifting Venn diagram of imposed realities. External forces tessellate themselves into new patterns, impinging on our perception of our own private little universe. That little central point, that small piece of the Venn diagram, is ours alone. In the end, we can limit the reach of those other orbiting forces in our everyday lives. Our world is our own to define.
‘There are many things in life that will catch your eye, but only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.’
– Michael Nolan
